Scope of activity:

1. Organises and carries out checks for evaluation of the technical competence and ability to perform the conformity assessment procedures of the candidate notified bodies applying for designation in accordance with the ordinances under article 7 of the Law on technical requirements to products (LTRP), the enforcement measures under article 26a of the LTRP as well as makes proposals to the SAMTS president for granting or not such a designation for conformity assessment activities (Procedure П-РОС-08.01);
2. Organises and carries out checks of notified bodies designated for carrying out conformity assessment activities in order to verify if they respect the terms under which this designation had been granted and makes proposals to the SAMTS president for issuing prescription for temporary suspension  of their activities till the lapses and non-compliances found out during the checks are removed or for withdrawal of the granted designation – (Procedure П-РОС-08.02);
3. Organises and participates in analyzes of the annual reports of notified bodies that had been granted a designation for carrying out conformity assessment activities;
4. Keeps a register of granted and withdrawn designations for carrying out conformity assessment activities and publishes relevant information in the SAMTS official bulletin webpage;
5. Coordinates the activities of the national working groups for enforcement of the ordinances under article 7 of LTRP, of the enforcement measures under article 26a of the LTRP;
6. Prepares reports and notifications to the European Commission and the Member states about the notified bodies designated to carry out conformity assessment activities;
7. Notifies the European commission for the withdrawn designations for carrying out conformity assessment activities and for temporary suspended conformity assessment activities;
8. Makes prescriptions to the notified bodies for removal of the non-compliances to the requirements of the LTRP and/or for removal of the lapses and non-compliances when performs the conformity assessment procedures;
9. Organises and carries out checks for assigning a unique code of the manufacturer to the manufacturers of watercrafts established on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria or in a third country in accordance to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1;
10. Assigns the unique codes of the watercraft manufacturers established on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and keeps a national register of the unique codes of the watercraft manufacturers according to the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1;
11. Assigns and administrates the assigned unique codes of the watercraft manufacturers of third countries according to article 7 of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1 – (Procedure П-РОС-08.03);
12. Assigns the identification code of the notified bodies to which a permission has been granted for carrying out conformity assessment at the post-construction stage according to the article 8 of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1.
